The Whitgift Centre is a large shopping complex in Croydon, South London. It opened between 1968-1970. The centre was named after John Whitgift, former Archbishop of Canterbruy. The building was designed by Geddes Architects, and was built on the site of Whitgift Middle School, which moved to Shirley and was renamed Trinity School of John Whitgift. The first shop opened was Boots on the 17th Octobe 1968, but the centre itself was officially opened by the Duchess of Kent in 1970. In the 1990's, the centre was rebuilt.

The Forum is the name of the shop in which our Site Specific piece is going to be performed in/near. The shop was originally created by an undergraduate student who wanted to find out peoples views and memories on what Croydon used to be like, and how it has changed since. There are lots of photos, sticky notes and bits of information to look at and read in our site. On the first day of our visit to the shop in Croydon we looked at the photos and the notes that are stuck up around the room. I was working with Louise and we decided to focus on the entertainment because a lot of the photos we looked at ended up having lots of people dancing and playing music. We took photos of the pictures that we looked at to remind us of what we were looking at.

Our site that we picked for our performance is a bench outside of Shakeaway and a watch shop. We chose this space because we can use the watch shop as a basis of our idea of using music through the years. We also chose it because we can use the bench as a stage.
